The A + A Trade Fair for Occupational Safety and Health, the world‘s No.1 safety event, took place from October 18th to October 21st 2011 in Düsseldorf. The trade fair set a new attendance record with over 60,000 visitors and, at the associated A + A Conference, more than 5,000 participants discussed current trends and product innovations for safety and health at work.
The access in the conference area was realized with the mobile solution from Quipos Solutions. With 12-15 parallel speeches running constantly two issues were important: speed and analysis. The guests had to quickly find the rooms with the speeches interesting to them and the conference operators were able to analyze exactly which topics were of interest to the guests and which were not. The results gave them an easy way to optimize the offer at the next conference accordingly.

Bernhard Gamper, CEO of the system integrator responsible, Adventics GmbH said: “All the systems used in the past had the disadvantage that they were totally dependent on Wi-Fi. At the smallest connection loss the mobile devices were blocked and access was no longer logged. The Quipos system is capable of overcoming short network dropouts without problems and therefore provides accurate statistics. The system was installed within 10 minutes and operation was error-free. ”
Additionally, with the Quipos system’s inherent real-time connectivity, booking errors were quickly visible and the operators were able to respond to variations in the seminar stream attendance quickly and correctly. At less-attended presentations a single marshal was often able to supervise two events in parallel, so that additional helpers could soon be in the right place, reassigned to topics with a rush of visitors.
The security team changed daily yet had no problem operating the Quipos system. Through intuitive and easy handling of the devices, system induction was completed in five minutes and the team was ready to go.
And another unexpected benefit occurred. Although “mobile tickets” were not an intended function, quite a number of visitors had not printed their congress invitation received by e-mail, but could display it on their smartphone. The barcode scanning of smartphone displays are usually a challenge for readers, but this posed no problem for the state-of-the-art technology of the Quipos One. It rose to the challenge and error-free results were also provided there.
